December 2018: Tasting notes on Occitania, one of the “unusual” wines in Jancis Robinson’s Languedoc Night

Jancis Robinson MW devoted her first French wine night to the Languedoc, “a region so vast it can be difficult to get to grips with … producing everything from the lightest sparkling wines to the darkest reds, and everything in between”.

Tamlyn Currin of the  jancisrobinson.com team narrowed the choice down to  a “truly eclectic collection” of  wines the team knew  well and loved, and had a good track record of  doing consistently well: wines “that were either top of their class or represented a benchmark”, including a couple of ‘unusual wines’ such as the Rives-Blanques 100% mauzac, Occitania.

A generous sum from the proceeds of the evening was donated to the Red Cross, in support of their help for beleaguered victims of the October floods in the Languedoc.
