The Languedoc is the land of discovery, according to the Revue du Vin de France, which publishes the world’s oldest wine magazine, and an annual guide to the best wines in France.

The 2012 edition of the Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France praises a ‘young generation producing wines that correspond to the region’s identity: generous, balanced, not heavy, with an aromatic palate flavoured by the garrigue’.

« These wines offering an exceptional quality/price ratio should absolutely be discovered » they said, while lamenting  the machine-harvested, industrially produced wines that co-exist in, and to an extent still dominate, this vast region.

« White Limoux wines from high altitudes can be quite remarkable », they said.
