Wine Tasting Notes

November 25, 2004: Our Blanquette gets a "coup de coeur" from the Midi Libre ...

Today's Midi Libre carried a special supplement on "Special Wines", featuring not only the wines, but also the women behind them. In the Limoux appellation, Francoise Anteche, sixth generation head of one of the appellation's biggest bubbles producers, recommended serving Blanquette as an aperitif ... and then continuing with it throughout the meal (especially with white meats).

The newspaper chose one Crémant and one Blanquette as the best examples. "This Blanquette," they said of the Rives-Blanques 2001, "is a beautiful expression of the mauzac grape, with an appley citrussy freshness". Under the heading "An Irish Blanquette", they said this wine showed how fast the Panmans had adapted to Limoux.
